A cyclone is a technological equipment requiring a quick rotation of the gas to separate the fine solid particles that are mixed in the gas. The inlet of the gas in the cyclone is made tangentially. The gas may contain high concentrations of dust. The cyclone is used as pre-separator prior to the bag filter.
The design of each cyclone is optimized for each particular case, using the equations of Leitz and Lich, Kalen and Kenz to determine the optimum speed of entry according to the flow of gas, its viscosity, as well as the concentration and the density of the particles.
Manufacturing materials used will depend on the abrasiveness of the particles and the corrosivity and the temperatures of the gases.
