Principle of operation of the horizontal dryer

The dryer is a continuous disc dehydration equipment by indirect contact between the  material to be dried the heat medium. The rotor consists of a stack of discs on a heated horizontal tube.
The discs are heated by steam or thermal fluid injected into the rotor axis and distributed across the disks.
The combined action of disc, arms-scrapers and stirring paddles ensures an excellent heat transfer and a slow progression of the product to be dried.

The excellent yield of the dryer helps control energy consumption.

 

Characteristics of horizontal disc dryer

• Stainless steel construction for all parts in contact with the product,
• Shaft ends in forged steel;
• Low rotating speed at 10 revolutions per minute;
• Pressure in the rotor: 6 to 8 bar;
• Heat transfer surface: 60 to 460 m²;
• Steam consumption: 1.3 to 1.4 kg steam / kg water evaporated;
• Easy access for maintenance.
